The daily loss limit is calculated based on your account balance at the end of the previous day (5 PM EST). Here’s how it works:
- End of Previous Day Balance:
- Determine your account balance at the end of the previous day (5 PM EST).
- Daily Loss Calculation:
- Calculate 5% of this balance.
- For example, if your account balance at the end of the previous day is $100,000, 5% of this is $5,000.
- If your equity the next day drops below $95,000, you have exceeded the daily loss limit.
- Start of the Day:
- The beginning of the day is the zero hour of the broker.
- This is indicated by a vertical line when the "Show Period Separator" option is activated in MetaTrader.
